First Pres follows the Revised Common Lectionary, a collection of passages from Scripture that span the liturgical year. There are several different lectionaries in use throughout Christianity; the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) is one of the most popular. The RCL’s year begins with Advent, in late November. The lectionary includes a cycle of three years; we are currently beginning Year A.
